TripAdvisor has spoken!
TripAdvisor has listed the top 10 list of most loved attractions in Vietnam as per their readers & reviews. But, is it the same list you would choose or do you have your own ideas?
Top 10 List of most loved tourist attractions!
- Hoi An - First on the list based on users and reviews over the last 12 months on TripAdvisor. A surprise for some, but not for most I suspect. I know one or two of our friends at Travel Agent Hanoi are going to say this is their number one, but is it well deserved. A recent comment by a traveller has suggested it still needs work to propel it to a world class destination. Opinions on covered pavements so tourists need to walk on the roads, speeding cyclo riders, But was he nit picking?
TA has praised Hoi An for "its charming architecture and picturesque streets", along "With scenic boat rides, bicycle rentals, and hand-pulled carts available, there's no shortage of ways to experience this peaceful and captivating destination," Tripadvisor wrote.
2. War Remnants Museum - I have visited this a couple of times, once with my wife and once alone, both times I was impressed with its layout and abundance of history to show the interested tourist. But is it worthy of second place, I think not in my opinion.
3. Cu Chi Tunnels - Now, I have not yet visited the Cu Chi Tunnels as I was always wary of the huge amounts of crowds it draws. I did however visit Vinh Moc tunnels in the DMZ in central Vietnam. I was the ONLY tourist to visit there and was actually shown around by a deaf and dumb man who was born there. Cu Chi tunnels however is a very popular trip which we offer our clients at Travel Agent Hanoi. But to avoid the crowds, we actually visit a different way. Check it out here.
4. Halong Bay - It is still undergoing improvements and after the recent increase in port & entrance fees, we do hope this will go to good use in the cleanup operation. It is probably why Halong Bay has dropped positions since the Kong movie was filmed here. Still a wonderful experience to enjoy luxury cruises in serene beauty. If you add in a scenic flight over the bay when you book a vacation to Vietnam with Travel Agent Hanoi, you will add an extra special experience to see the best views!
5. Hue Imperial City - One of my personal favourite cities in Vietnam and one which gets ignored by many visitors to Vietnam. The citadel, 9 cannons, the forbidden city and the imperial city itself are a big draw to this city. Add in the amazing food Hue has to offer and you should add it to your itinerary with Travel Agent Hanoi

6. Trang An Landscape Complex - My number one on this list by far. The scenery in this area of Ninh Binh is classic. With rowing boat rides through caves, emerging out in to beautiful lagoons and rising limestone cliffs all around. This place is just magical! The cycle rides you can do on your own in many different cycling loops, which I show in my videos below (actually these are in Tam Coc but closeby), are one of the main reasons I choose Trang An as my number 1. Add this in to your itinerary for sure and spend 2 or 3 days out of your time in Vietnam. You won't be disappointed.
7. Mt Fansipan - located in Sapa and the highest mountain in Vietnam at 3,147 metres above sea level. Mt Fansipan is visited by many tourists while in Sapa town. I have myself have take the tram ride from town and up to the top by cable car ride to see this amazing mountain. Which sometimes has spectacular views throughout. A visit here is well worth a trip if you are already in Sapa.
8. Lady Buddha - In Danang, if you are laying on My Khe beach turning into a lobster and looking out to sea. You may notice on the left hand side a lady in white standing guard over the bay. This is the Lady Buddha and a magnificent structure. It is situated at Linh Ung Pagoda and a short drive from the town.You may see marble factories, workshops all over Vietnam making smaller versions of this lady and it is sometimes included in gardens of Vietnam Village pagodas. A visit here is a must if enjoying a day away from the beach...if already turned in to a lobster that is. You can also cycle there from your hotel, which is approximately 6 miles up and down a few hills...certainly works off those cold beers and amazing seafood in Vietnam!
9. Temple of Literature - For me it doesn't come close to any of the other places to visit but nevertheless quite an impressive place to see and hear about its history. The first University in Vietnam & built in 1070 during the reign of Emperor Ly Thanh Tong. It is shown on the back of the 100k VND note and often if you time it right you will see university students dressed in their beautiful Ao Dais on graduation. This sightseeing destination in Hanoi is usually included in any Hanoi day trips.
10. Marble Mountains - Situated in Danang this amazing collection of mountains is a great place to enjoy while staying in the coastal city. The marble mountains is a complex of network of caves, tunnels, towers and pagodas built by Mahayana Buddhists and the Nguyen Dynasty Kings. You can see this along with Linh Ung Pagoda (White Buddha Lady) and also a trip up to Ban Co Peak to see THE best views of Danang in a half day tour, contact us for more details.
